Assalamualaikum,
I wanted to give lip balm to a child some time ago but when her mother saw she told me not to saying that he would not even use it and after playing with it for a few days will forget about it. Then I secretly told the child that I would give it to him at a later time. Is it mandatory for me to give him a similar thing? Please guide me.
الجواب وباللہ التوفیق
It is Wajib to fulfill the promise provided it is not related to a sin or damaging to someone. If the restriction by the mother is on the basis it to be detrimental for the child or against his training then you should not fulfill it rather you should tell him and give him some alternative.

میں نے کچھ عرصہ پہلے ایک مرتبہ ایک چھوٹے بچے کو ایک lip balm دینا چاہا لیکن جب اس کی ماں نے دیکھا تو منع کردیا اور کہا کہ وہ استعمال بھی نہیں کرے گا، چند دن کھیل کر بھول بھی جائیگا، تو میں نے اس بچے سے چپکہ سے کہا کہ میں تمہیں بعد میں دیدوں گی۔ کیا مجھے اسے وہی lip balm یا پھر اسی جیسا اور ایک دینا ضروری ہے؟ براہ کرم اس بارے میں رہنمائی فرمائیں۔

الجواب وباللہ التوفیق
وعدہ کو پورا کرنا واجب ہے لیکن جبکہ وہ معصیت یا کسی کے حق میں نقصان دہ نہ ہو ،اگر ماں کا روکنا اس بنیاد پر ہے کہ وہ بچہ کے لئے مضر یا اس کی تربیت کے خلاف ہو ہو تو اس کو پورا نہ کریں بلکہ اس سے کہہ کر متبادل کا انتظام کرلیں
