Direction of toilet

Assalam alaikum,

Is there any ruling on not facing the qibla while using restroom? Many homes today are pre-built with toilets facing the qibla direction. What should be done in this case if there is any such ruling on not using the toilets while facing qibla?

Jazakallah Khairan.

Facing the qibla or having the back towards qibla,  while answering the call of nature is strictly forbidden and is an act of sin.

Regarding the toilets facing qibla, it is important to ask the authorities responsible,  to reposition the toilet seat away from qibla.

If someone is in need to use a toilet facing qibla, the user  should sit with his back towards the qibla, and try to deviate from qibla alignment, and after its use, seek Allah’s forgiveness.
