Delaying the fast

Assalamualaikum, my question regards the delaying of the fast after the sunset and would a person's fast be accepted if they broke their fast after the Isha salah.

Without a genuine excuse, it is “makrooh” to delay “iftar” until the stars begin appearing in the sky, or Isha time sets in. However, the fast will be valid.
