Collection money

Assalamualakum,

Is it permissible to use one collection money in another good cause without mentioning it in the beginning of collection?

Is it ok to use one marriage collection money into another marriage of a poor girl without informing the people who are donating?

How do we avoid any not correct method, what should we mention while collecting money to avoid Israf in marriage?

could we mention something like this: " We are collecting for this family our goal is $2000, once we reach the goal the money collection would be forwarded to another good cause and deserving zakaat people"?

Please advice!

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

الجواب وباللہ التوفیق

  1. It is allowed to spend the collected money on various causes and disbursements.
  2. If the donor's intention is to spend it on the marriage of a particular person, it is compulsory to spend that money on the intended marriage only. It is not permissible to use it on any other project or to spend it on another marriage. However, if the doner grants permission to use the money on different marriages, or keeps the donation open-ended, only then will it be allowed to use It to cover expenses of the other marriage.
  3. After having set aside money for the marriage:

3a. try to avoid unnecessary expenses.

3b. avoid spending more than what is necessary even in places of real need.

3c. avoid all cultural rituals and superstitions.

3d. Stay away from unnecessary demands.

      4. You can collect donations by mentioning a particular family in need, but this money must be spent according to the intention of the  
donors in the same cause.
     5. Whatever amount of money is left after completion of the project, should be returned to the donors. But if the donors allow it to spend the 
remaining money for other purposes,it would be alright to do so.
